Where to Eat Out

Availability & Booking

Here are some suggestions for places to eat out but please note that due to the Covid problems some places are closed until further notice or opening times have changed.  Please check their websites:

In Rannoch & Tummel:

Riverbank Cafe  -  a lovely café open 10am to 5pm Tues to Sunday, with attractively presented and tasty food as well as classy gifts, in Kinloch Rannoch square.

Rannoch Station Tea Room great café on the platform at Rannoch Station at the end of the road west.  Wonderful cakes. Very popular. Closed Fridays.  (Closed in winter from end October to early March.  But tea and coffee available to make yourself in visitor centre if you arrive cold and wet from a long walk!)

Moor of Rannoch Restaurant & Rooms, close to Rannoch Station.  Non-residents can book for dinner only and booking early essential but well worth going to this small, award-winning restaurant. Some people book a year ahead so do book early!  Closed in winter from end October to February.

Bridge of Gaur Guesthouse, west end of Loch Rannoch
Booking Essential.  Good home cooking.

Loch Rannoch Hotel - Now open under new owners.  Two restaurants and bars.  Well worth a visit.

Dunalastair Hotel Suites - Licensed restaurant at this stylish hotel  in Kinloch Rannoch Square. Booking advised.  (no connection to us)

Inn at Loch Tummel, Strathtummel -  Bar and Restaurant and outside area in summer. Dog friendly. Tel: 01882 634317

Struan Inn - Travelling on the B847 north towards the A9, it is on the left just before the bridge shortly before you reach Calvine and the A9.  Booking essential.  Open to non residents. 01796 483714  (Closed until 2022)

We directly felt at home in Rose cottage. Enjoyed the birds and red squirrels on and around the birdfeeder....

And a little further afield:

Fortingall Hotel
This hotel is about 25 minutes from Kinloch Rannoch and the food and ambiance is good. Need to book on 01887 830367

Errichel Thyme Restaurant, near Aberfeldy

Killiecrankie House  -  A hotel just north of Pitlochry.  It has recently changed hands to become a 'restaurant with rooms'.  Booking essential.

Moulin Inn -  This characterful Inn with fascinating history is just outside Pitlochry on the Kirkmichael road. It brews it's own beer and you can get a good lunch or dinner here.

Port-na-Craig Inn and Restaurant, Pitlochry (below the Pitlochry Festival Theatre)
Good food.

Fonab Castle Hotel - nice hotel on Pitlochry bypass - pre-theatre dinner, lunches, dinners.  Good food.

There are lots more places to eat in the area.  Suggestions in the information folder and from visitors in the Visitors Diary in the cottages.
