Tuim Cottage
A cosy cottage amongst the wildlife near the river
This very attractive, recently renovated holiday cottage stands on a rise 200 metres or so from the River Tummel and not far from East Lodge, (so they could be rented together although each retains total privacy with trees between). Tuim has a fenced garden area at the rear and parking for several cars at the front, well off the road inside the gate. There are mature shrubs and trees in the garden including birches and Scots pines and you will see plenty of wildlife such as woodpeckers and red squirrels from the windows. You can walk from the cottage to the river.
Walk along the riverbank, with its mature pine woods with heather and blaeberries underfoot, birches, alder and willow, and you will find dramatic falls a short distance away. You may also be lucky enough to see an osprey in summer as they nest not far away.
This holiday home has oil central heating and is comfortably laid out and has a spacious L-shaped living room with sofa and armchairs grouped around the cosy wood-burning stove set in the original stone fireplace. There is Sky TV and DVD player and there are plenty of books and puzzles.
The good-sized dining area has large pine dining table, chairs and dresser and is adjacent to a small sun room with garden furniture. This cosy holiday cottage is ideal for a family or two couples.
The double bedroom has a king-size bed. A door leads from here into the family bathroom (which has a door from the living room, too).
There are two steps down to the sunny twin bedroom which faces south.
The family bathroom has bath with shower over, WC and basin and, in a cupboard, the washing machine and tumble dryer.
The very well equipped kitchen, which faces Schiehallion, has plenty of storage cupboards, colourful blinds and oil central-heating boiler (oil included in rent).
Please note that being on a rise, there are several steps to the front door which may make it unsuitable for those with walking difficulties. There are three steps up to the back (sunroom) door.
