DUNALASTAIR HOLIDAY HOUSES

We aim to give you the best of holidays

Walk in the hills, breathe the clean Highland air and watch the ospreys fishing in the loch and red squirrels frolicking in the treetops, then relax by a log fire in peaceful surroundings and find tranquillity away from the stresses of life.  By the end of September the colours of the landscape will have changed to red, russet, gold and ochre - a magical time of year.  Come and enjoy the scenery for yourself.

20,000 acre Dunalastair Estate is family-run and includes farming, forestry, fishing, stalking and holiday cottages.  There are several Sites of Special Scientific Interest on the estate.

The cottages are surrounded by the magnificent, unspoilt scenery of the Central Highlands. Here you will find lochs fringed with birch trees, mountains rising up to form rocky peaks, such as the famous conical Schiehallion, 'Hill of the Fairies' (1083m). There are wild and windswept heather moorlands which turn purple in August, an ancient Caledonian pine forest - the famous Black Wood of Rannoch.

In May and June the wild flowers are spectacular, and all through the year the magical, ever-changing light makes it essential to have a camera with you. Here is the place to find beauty and tranquillity away from the busy world outside.

There is a huge variety of birds and other wildlife to be seen on the estate including eagles, ospreys, deer, pine marten, black grouse, red squirrels and much much more.

Dunalastair is very centrally placed so that it is easy to make day trips to such varied places as Loch Ness, Edinburgh, St. Andrews and Loch Lomond and return to your welcoming cottage in the evening.

Within easy reach are a large number of golf courses with very reasonable green fees and there is a vast and varied choice of other activities in the area from Highland Safaris, to pony trekking and white water rafting, from gardens to historic castles, distilleries to woollen shops. There is something for everyone here.

The nearby village of Kinloch Rannoch has restaurants and hotels, an activity centre, licensed grocer, post office, cafe, churches (Presbyterian and Episcopal), garage, fuel, cycle hire and fishing shop. There is a medical centre in the village.
