Bridge Cottage
A unique hideaway by the water

This very popular 4-star holiday home, full of character, is situated in a very peaceful, secluded position beside the River Tummel. There are superb views west up Dunalastair Loch to the Glencoe hills and Bridge Cottage lies ¼ mile down a private road. The area around this holiday cottage is a natural setting and is not enclosed. It consists of some mown grass and mature trees leading into woodland. Because the cottage is so close to the river it is not at all suitable for small children. The remoteness means that you can frequently see wildlife in the vicinity, including red squirrels, deer, eagles, ospreys, whooper swans and geese (in winter), lots of duck and many others.

There are lovely walks directly from this special holiday home, including to Macgregor's Cave, a viewpoint which looks towards the distant hills of Glen Coe and Etive, where legend has it that Rob Roy Macgregor hid from the redcoats. Welly boots are necessary for this walk. You can walk up Schiehallion directly from the cottage or drive a couple of miles to the main car park and walk from there to the summit. (It takes about 2½ hours from the car park if you are reasonably fit.) A boat for your use is moored near the cottage for fishing or just exploring Dunalastair Loch and the river. Life jackets are available.

On the Ground Floor there is a twin bedroom with bay window. It has a pine wardrobe and dressing table and attractive curtains. The large sitting room with woodburning stove has a dining area in the bay window overlooking the river and furniture includes leather sofa and large easy chairs, sideboard, lamps, together with a library of books and puzzles. The fully equipped kitchen has a door to outside. Upstairs, there is a double bedroom with kingsize bed and pine wardrobe and dressing table and a lovely view up the loch from the window. The bathroom has bath, handbasin and WC. The ceilings are coombed upstairs which may not suit tall people. Heating is by storage and convector heaters.

Bridge Cottage has no TV reception but has a dvd player as well as radio/cd player.

There is a lockable shed attached to the house where oars and garden furniture is kept and bikes could be safely stored there.
