Some ideas for interesting activities
Touring: From Dunalastair you can make interesting day trips to a very wide area as we are very centrally placed. Balmoral, Loch Ness and the two National Parks are within reach. Wonderful castles abound. Quaint villages and dramatic glens. So much to see...
Hill Walking: - Dunalastair and the surrounding area is ideal for hill walking - leaflets are available locally and in cottages. See also Highland Perthshire Walks.
Bird-watching (see below) - This is a paradise for bird watchers.

Blackbird, Blackcap, Blue Tit, Bullfinch, Chaffinch, Coal Tit, Common Sandpiper, Common Snipe, Garden Warbler, Goldcrest, Grasshopper Warbler, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Great Tit, Grey Wagtail, Hooded Crow, Lesser Redpoll, Little Grebe, Long-tailed Tit, Mallard, Meadow Pipit, Mistle Thrush, Oystercatcher, Pied Flycatcher, Redshank, Redstart, Reed Bunting, Robin, Sedge Warbler, Siskin, Song Thrush, Spotted Flycatcher, Teal, Treecreeper, Tufted Duck, Water Rail, Wigeon, Willow Warbler, Wood Pigeon, Wood Warbler, Wren, and possibly breeding there : greylag goose, osprey, pied wagtail.

Wild flowers - the flowers in spring and summer have to be seen to be believed. With little spraying of crops here, there is an abundance of wild flowers.
Painting and Photography - A perfect place for artists and photographers. Wonderful landscape and quaint old buildings are here for you to paint and photograph.
Tennis - a tennis court is available for guests’ use at Lochgarry House.
Fishing - trout fishing is available and a free fishing permit covers bank fishing on the north bank of the River Tummel between Kinloch Rannoch and the bridge at Tummel Bridge (excluding Dunalastair Loch where bank fishing is not allowed). However, the permit does cover free fishing from the estate boats on Dunalastair Loch, and Bridge Cottage residents can also fish from the south bank from the cottage to the Dunalastair Dam where terrain is suitable which is mainly from the area behind the cottage. Pony Trekking is within easy reach by car at Blair Castle and Kenmore.

White water rafting and other exciting water sports are available near Ballinluig, Aberfeldy and Kenmore. Nae Limits
Highland safaris are very popular and take place within half an hour of Dunalastair near Dull. At their base, there are also popular activities for children such as gold-panning and there is an interesting deli/farm shop there.
Golf - There are numerous golf courses in the area, including Aberfeldy, Pitlochry and Taymouth Castle. Golf in Perthshire
Field Sports on Dunalastair - Stalking, both roe and red deer, is sometimes available and also pheasant/partridge shooting for parties of 8 in November/December/January. If you require further information please email Field Sports.
Shopping - There is good shopping in Pitlochry and Aberfeldy, famous for their woollens and tweeds, and at the well-known House of Bruar near Blair Atholl, locally known as the 'Harrods of the north'.
Gardens - There are numerous lovely gardens open to the public both regularly and occasionally under the Scotland's Gardens Scheme or see

West Highland Line - you can take a day trip to Fort William or Mallaig on this beautiful stretch of railway taking in the stunning scenery of the west coast. You catch the train at Rannoch Station one of the remotest stations in Britain.
Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair - From 26 - 29 August 2010 - this exciting event takes place in the grounds of Blair Castle. Well worth a visit. Lots of shopping too!
